  • An optional game to introduce softball to new players at intermediate and secondary school level
  • Gloves & batting helmets optional but recommended
  • Catching equipment not required
  • The pitcher pitches to their own team
  • Defensive side has an extra outfielder
  • The game constitutes 7 innings or 1 hour, whichever occurs first.

THE GAME

Play Ball is a modified game designed to introduce new players at intermediate and secondary school level to softball.
The game is user friendly by offering flexible rules to ensure balls are pitched/delivered across the plate with the greatest of ease.
The key difference is that the pitcher pitches to their own team to ensure hitters have a greater chance of hitting the ball in play allowing for a dynamic and active game of softball.
