SOUTHERN TEAMS SEEDED AND READY TO GO

Written by Softball NZ on October 15th, 2021.      0 comments

The PCU Devils and Kaiapoi Queens will be the teams to watch during the opening weekend of the Tradestaff FASTBALL 45 National League in Christchurch.

Both teams won the Halswell FASTBALL 45 tournament on the 2nd and 3rd of Oct allowing both to secure first place seedings heading into the We Are Southern Conference, 20-21 Nov.

A highlight of the men’s final between the Devils and ELE Papanui Tigers was the countback required to determine the ultimate winner. After 45 minutes and both teams locked at 2-2 the Devils reigned supreme because of a successful squeeze play earlier in the game.

The We Are Southern Conference will include a different look this season with the inclusion of the Albion Anteaters and RKS Bower Smokehouse Blinders in the men, and the Sydenham Kereru in the women.

The ELE Papanui Tigers and Sporting Edge Halswell Hornets women’s team will be eager to regain last season’s We Are Southern titles and book themselves a place in the finals weekend at Rosedale Park. Both teams finished the inaugural National League with a credible third place behind the Central and Northern franchises.
