A fantastic opportunity to support the New Zealand U23 Major Sox as Assistant Coach.

NZ MAJOR SOX - TEAM SCORER POSITION (CLOSED)

A fantastic opportunity is available to be involved with the New Zealand development pathway, as the New Zealand Major Sox team scorer.
Key Tasks and requirements for the role:
- Prepare and collate information on MJSX athletes in domestic competitions, as required by the Head Coach. Where practical, be prepared to score opposition games for scouting purposes during tournaments.
- Applicant needs to be competent with the use of Stat Track, Turbo Stats, Game Changer or similar software.
- Experience with electronic scoring is also desirable
- This position also includes assistance to Team Manager of various domestic duties whilst in camps or tournaments
- The applicant needs to be qualified at Level 6 or 7 in the NZ Scoring Certification programme
- The successful applicant should be aware that there may be a significant amount of self funding required.

NZ DEVELOPING SOX BOYS - HEAD COACH POSITION (CLOSED)

A fantastic opportunity is available to be involved with the New Zealand development pathway, as the New Zealand Under 15 Developing Sox (Boys) team in the Head Coach role.
In line with the Junior and Senior high performance programmes, the key focus for the Developing Sox programmes is the preparation and development of Under 15 athletes toward future winning performances for the senior national teams on the international stage. The Developing Sox Head Coach, in conjunction with the greater high performance programme, will lead the planning, coaching and support to selected athletes culminating in a number of regional camps, capture of baseline date and a monitoring programme, squad and team selections for in country (and possible Trans-Tasman international competitions) to be determined between the successful applicant and Softball NZ.

About Us: Softball New Zealand is dedicated to promoting and developing the sport of softball across the country. We oversee the national softball competitions, events, and programmes, as well as the national teams that represent New Zealand in international tournaments. We also work closely with our regional associations, clubs, schools, and other stakeholders to develop and promote softball across the country. We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our team as a Business Support professional.
About The Role: The Business Support Administrator is a 20-25 hour a week permanent position.that will deliver high-quality administrative assistance and operational coordination, enhancing overall business efficiency and contributing to the achievement of organisational targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- National Team Support: Coordinate bookings for accommodation, travel, equipment, and training camps. Organise team outfitting and assist in preparing and managing team budgets.
- Relationship Management: Manage contracts and relationships with insurance providers, vehicle and property leases, IT services, and travel agencies.
- Office Support: Provide IT support, manage travel arrangements for staff, assist with internal communications, maintain the Customer Relationship Management system, and provide additional support to the Chief Executive.
- Funding: Collaborate with the Chief Executive to determine funding requirements, obtain quotes, and apply to various funding bodies. Ensuring funding responsibilities are fulfilled and reported.
- General Duties: Ensure punctuality, prioritise workload, support a positive workplace culture, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Minimum of 3 years in a similar support role, preferably within a sports organisation.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
- Experience in funding applications and reporting, coordinating travel logistics, and managing relationships and contracts.
- Be part of a passionate team dedicated to the growth of softball in New Zealand.

The successful candidate ideally will attend either the North Island U15 Tournament in Hastings (20 -22 Jan) or the South Island U15 Clubs in Timaru (18-21 Jan). In conjunction with our high-performance programme you will lead the planning, coaching and support to selected athletes for a camp prior to entry at the Easter Classic (29 March - 1 April 2024, over Easter Weekend). ROLE SUMMARY
As the GM High Performance, you will have overall responsibility for:
- Performance pathway
- Working with the NSO to ensure performance network strategies and the operating model are aligned and integrated
- HP Strategy and Development
- Lead the HP vision, goals and strategies across our brands and associated pathways programmes
- Team and Culture
- Develop a suitable HP culture that enables achievement of outcomes for athletes, coaches, and support staff
- HP Planning, Enabling and Reporting
- Lead the implementation, monitoring and reporting of programme plans including reporting against delivery agreements
- HP Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Ensure fit for purpose communication protocols and practices are in place to keep all stakeholders appropriately informed includes players, coaches and support staff, wider Softball New Zealand, High Performance Sport NZ, and other external stakeholders
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Understands high performance systems
- History of building and driving a high performance culture.
- An understanding of the New Zealand HP system and HPSNZ strategy – desired
- An understanding of the NSO vision, strategy, priorities, and challenges.
- Successful management of internal and external stakeholder relationships toward the achievement of joint objectives and targets.
- Take an active role in succession planning for national players and coaches.
- Tertiary qualified in a related field (e.g., Sports/Business) or leadership experience in high performance, elite or professional sport.
- Experience within elite softball would be seen as advantageous but not mandatory

- Producing a robust and well-planned selection process.
- Working closely with the CEO, Board, and other key stakeholders in ensuring strategic alignment with the wider national pathway.
- Track record of coaching elite Softball teams to success at national or international level.
- Outstanding knowledge of all facets of the game, plus insight into trends and developments at international level.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing a comprehensive, holistic high-performance programme for elite teams and players.
