Passing of Malcolm Wright
Many of you will remember Marty. He has had a long association with Evergreens Softball.
He first attended an Evergreens Tournament at Horowhenua in 1978 and has attended almost every tournament since then.
Marty started his softball career playing for Broadway in Wellington along with his older brother.
During his time with the Wellington Evergreens he was firstly a player, then a team coach or assistant coach and latterly a supporter.
In 2000 Marty was among a list of players who had competed with Wellington for 20 years.
In 2013, at the North Harbour Tournament Marty was among the Wellington Evergreens who were honoured as one of the Legends of Evergreens and was awarded a Certificate “In recognition of outstanding support and achievement throughout years of the Men’s Evergreens Softball.”
In later years Mary moved to Napier where he spent his last few years. He attended the 2023 Tournament in Manawatu just a couple of months before he passed away.
He will long be remembered by his many friends and teammates.
