SNZ Awards 2024

NATHAN NUKUNUKU - SOFTBALLER OF THE YEAR

SNZ AWARDS - 17-973

Nathan Nukunuku is a dedicated and successful coach for the Mt Albert Premier men’s team, and the Auckland NFC squad. His coaching lead Mt Albert Ramblers to a clean sweep of victories across all competitions and tournaments that they were entered in this season, including the Auckland Premier competition, Vic Guth Tournament, Rock Chote Tournament, Northern Intercity and SNZ Open Club Nationals, coaching the team to their 13th title and becoming the first team to win five (5) consecutive Open Club titles.

This season, Nate coached Auckland’s NFC men who claimed top spot as winners of the National Fast Pitch Championships. On top of this, he was also an integral member of the Auckland Softball Association, assisting in the administration of the Premier competition whilst mentoring younger players in local clubs. He has shown commitment to building talent from grass roots, and was a major contributor to the Auckland Mā development team at NFC. Nathan is a very deserving recipient of both the SNZ Domestic Coach of the Year award, and the Softball New Zealand 'Softballer of the Year' for 2024.
