Black Sox book showdown with Aussies
A six-run fourth inning was enough for the Black Sox to cruise 7-0 past the winless Philippines and into a playoff showdown with champions Australia at the Tradestaff ISF World Softball Championship in Auckland.
Leading just 1-0 after three, the floodgates opened with Donny Hale, Jarrad Martin, Thomas Makea, Daniel Milne, Nathan Nukunuku and Patrick Shannon all crossed to enforce the mercy rule.
Starting pitcher Jeremy Manley got the win, providing two hitless innings for five strikeouts, while Penese Iosefo finished the game off, allowing two hits in two innings.
